Driveability on a Transgo Kit + GTM TC combo?
Hi guys my A/T is about to get rebuilt soon. I was just wondering if I might as well install the GTM TC and TransGo kit altogother while im at it. Is this advisable?
Some people are saying the combo will give me violent jerks on every gear change but I expect that on a VB upgrade. Others say it will ruin my gears in the long run. They do not have first hand experience so I'm not fully convinced.
Therefore I am asking for your enlightenment. Any opinions? advise?
thanks a lot!

I would not recommend a high stall converter without a nice big transmission cooler and without a specific need for a high stall converter. Daily driving will feel "mushy" as the stall increases. The VB will be civil at low throttle but crisp at high throttle/rpm. If you are rebuilding the transmission, I would put in the high performance clutch packs, etc. GTM does the full upgrade and I highly recommend it. I did not personally like the high stall originally set and I went to something lower (but still higher than stock). I am FI pushing about 500 wtq though. If you are NA, I would get the stage 3 GTM-5AT but without the TC upgrade (normally includes the VB upgrade).

well first of all thanks a lot for all your feedbacks!
i just found out i only need a TC with slightly higher stall speed than stock, since i track(circuit) my Z once in a while. I've already got the AT Cooler.
Hi RCDASH, GTM has a performance TC in their website. Any idea what's the stall speed on that one? it's not mentioned anywhere

I can assure you that the Transgo kit on D drive runs as good as stock, but as soon as you put it for manual it becomes another car. Great fast shifts with chirp wheels and all. This is one great mod for A/T guys!! Also i would suggest buying or investing in shorter gears, maybe a swap on a 3.5 pumpkin.

good stuff!
After reading your posts i went and talk to the shop's manager regarding the kit. He told me that the kit is best used with high performance clutchpaks, else the oem ones would wear out very soon.
just wanted to know if this is just a marketing gimmik? how many miles have guys been running the kit?
Nevertheless, the transgo kit sounds like an awesome mod. im going to get them installed.
thanks again!!!
