Default 3rd gear power loss when VDC/TCS is turned on???

Car: 2003 350z touring w/stock 08' touring wheels.

When i have VDC/TCS turned on i have normal power in 1st and 2nd gear, but as soon as i shift to 3rd i have complete power loss. What is this from?

I was told if your tire preasure is to low in one of the tires, this is used to control your speed to insure your safety untill you refill the tire. Is this correct?

thanks

Does everything work fine when you have VDC turned off?

Is the Slip light coming on during the power loss?

What size tires do you have front/rear?

BTW - tire pressure has nothing to do with VDC, etc. There's no connection between TPMS and anything else.

sorry i wasnt more spacific. 1st and 2nd are perfect. but 3rd,4th,5th, and 6th all have the same power loss feeling to them. it will go but its at like 25% power no matter how hard i accelerate.

If i take the VDC off then the car run perfect in all gears.

Stock size tires on 18" stock r 08 touring rims.

i have had this happen once before when i had a flat and i put the spare tire on. it did the exact same thing, but once i put the stock wheel and tire back on when it was fixed it istantely ran fine?

Its almost like the car recognizes low tire preasure and it doesnt let you drive fast untill you inflate the tire back to specs.

No, we need to know the exact tire spec, i.e. 225/45/18 front, 245/45/18 rear. Read the sizes from the tires. Incorrect sized tires (like your spare) can cause TCS/VDC to kick in at speed. The Slip light should come on when that happens. Are you getting the Slip light?

245/45/18 all around. yes the slip and emergency brake light will come on after about 30 seconds of driving and stay on untill i restart my car.

That's your problem. If you have a car with VDC/TCS, which you apparently do, then it expects the front tires to be "shorter" than the rears. If you have low pressure in one tire, that can make the OD even shorter and can aggravate the problem causing the Slip lights.

Certainly you want to check the air pressures, but the ultimate solution is to put the correct sized tires on the car or drive with VDC/TCS turned off.

^^ If Dave wasn't an engineer, he would be a detective (knowing how to question someone to discover the facts).

I've run 245/45-18" all square. It works. But only if you never allow your front tires to be a greater overall diameter than your rears. That means you must be very vigilant on tire pressures and tread wear. And of course this setup only has a hope of working when running the same brand and type of tire (front and rear). If you mix tire brands/models with an all-square setup, you will likely have failure.
