Could someone please tell me if a grounding kit would be worth getting. I have an 03 touring 6mt with 30,000 miles, I want it to idle smooth in closed loop. As of now it seems a bit rough. It has new plugs, a motordyne spacer and no codes......Thank you.

I don't think it's worth it either unless you are running some heavy audio equipment. Since all you have is the MD Spacer, I'd start with checking any hoses for leaks.

Not really worth it in my opinion. I have one and it made my idle a LITTLE bit smoother than before, but I don't think it was worth the $80 I spent for it. If your idle is pretty rough, then maybe it's worth it to you. It all depends on if you're willing to spend the money or not.

 

doesnt really do anything, just makes the engine bay look a little nicer. I bought one only because a forum member was selling it for cheap

i don't think they provide any large benifits unless you already have grounding "issues". I bought a grounding kit only because I tucked my wires and moved/changed a bunch of ground points, I bought a smoke color kit i only used a few of the wires and tried to keep it as hidden as possible so it looks clean not like some crap you threw on your engine.

 

I don't know about it looking cool, but you could benifit from it if you have a heavy system... That's probably the only reason I did it... If anything, please don't spend the $80+ for a "KIT"... Just make your own...

I read somewhere on G35Driver about this. Some people saw improvement in throttle response and AT shift time. It's just a physiological mod imo.

besides looking ridiculous, and extremely ricey, they do nothing.

 

The only benefit is making your electrical system more effecient. Upgrading my stock grounds did make a difference. Did it my self using 0 gauge but it was done to upgrade my electrical(music) not for performance gains

 

I think the benefits are only seen in the shift of At transmission. Electrical flow is improved, but barely noticeable I installed the Stillen grounding wires and It barely did anything (slightly smoother idle, but not really). If you want a noticeably smoother idle , I recommend going with a nice osiris standard tune. If possible, get it tuned at a shop on a dyno.

 

i have a set of stillen ground wires in my car.. didn't notice anything.. but hey its another mod to check off my list lol

Wow! Thanks everyone for the replies. I think I'll change the plugs and get a tune then. It runs exactly the same as before the spacer, except it really is a tad bit snappier. I already checked the hoses and did a smoke test, it's all good there.

 

when i put my spacer in I didn't raise the tower? bar enough and it rubbed a little on the upper plenum causing a rougher idle. 2 washers fixed my problem.

its not really worth 80$, you can get the same kinda wire/size gauge much cheaper and do it yourself.
I have it and I wanna say it idles smoother but to be honest its really hard to tell. I did read somewhere here that the early 350z's weren't grounded very good as the later models. you will get NO performance gain but may improve electrical effiency. but still not worth the $$$ I see them go for

 

DIY kit... you can buy some cables from audio shops for cheap.
