Default ECU cross over question *please help*

my car has had a few sleep overs at Nissan. they seemed to be throwing parts at it. they now say that i am in need of an ECU. they want $2500 for one.

i found one in the inter web for $200 shipped.

my question; the number on mine is MEC 31-532 A1 3402
the number on his is MEC 31-532 A1 3611

so the last 4 numbers are different. i would presume they would be interchangeable.

can someone PLEASE confirm?

I wouldn't presume anything like that. For the 6 production years of the 350Z, there are over 25 ECU's listed. Check them out....

It's not just model and year, they vary by trim level, AT vs MT, etc. That's why you have to match part numbers.

Those are probably the sub-part numbers that identify exactly which version ECU it is. As stated before, there are 26 different versions of the ECU, to handle all the different years, trim, etc.

You really ought to be asking the question - why are they quoting you $2500 when the page I linked for you lists them for $700? Keep in mind that Courtesy is a Nissan dealer too.
