Default sad... car can be "shifted but" does not go anywhere... Clutch issues HELP DIAGNOSING

Long post, anyway, last week, it seemed as though i smelling the burning clutch. Now mind you I've been driving my current 350z for 4 years now and all of the sudden, everytime I drive, I smell that burning clutch smell, similar smell I used to get when I was learning to drive this car 4 years ago.

This week it got worst. It seems like my car lost power. I would put it in 1st gear or any gear mind you and it takes forever to get the car going. Like I would need to raise the car to 3-4k to make the car go. It basically feels like i'm driving a slooooow car to get it going and i'm reving it high just to get it going.

Anyway, you know how the Z's first gear is hard to get into when its stock and working fine? I mean, you have to either come to a full stop to get it into first gear, then it'll go in and you can go.... Now that its not working i can put it in first and go (of course I have to rev it to 3k to get going).

Now I had to drive to my parent's home today (I live 50 miles away from them and go to school) and drive home. Yup my car feels totally different, like going on to a hill on the 405 into the San Fernando Valley, I have to literally downshift to keep going.

Also, when I have to rev high to keep up with traffic, my clutch pedal became SUPER SOFT I mean, SOFT. Like our Z clutch is normally stiff and has resistance compared to other manual cars i've driven, it basically felt like the clutch in my friend's rav 4.

Go home, made it fine...

So I thought. I park on the drive way, go inside, eat, play with dogs. I go outside to put the car in garage so I can work on it, flush the clutch fluid as it is dirty in the reservoir.

Start the car... It starts, put car in gear, does not go anywhere. 1,2,3,4 5,6 gears... Even reverse gear does't work. I can move the shifter into the 1st or any other gear even reverse without stepping on the clutch. The car basically does not go anywhere. Engine sounds fine, there's no leaks, in the clutch reservoir or anything.

SOOOO

Any help out there?

I'm gonna wait for my pops to come home and help me push the car since its in between the driveway and the street.

when you were driving it and gave it more gas did it rev up but not go any where? If so its a good chance your clutch needs to be replaced.

By not dealing with the slipping clutch in a timely manner, you've probably damaged a lot of other stuff.

Check to see if your school offers a course like "How to take care of something really nice so it doesn't turn into a worthless POS". You need it.

A slipping clutch will burn your flywheel....and your flywheel is expensive to replace.

It's amazing that so few responses can elicit such misinformation

My not-so-technical, it's 7 pm on a Saturday and I'm tired, evaluation based on everything you've described

your clutch is SHOT

you need a new one immediately. The flywheels are not resurfaceable, so hopefully yours is still intact (assuming budget is a primary concern, if not, there are several good quality aftermarket units)
