K@N filter for the 350Z
I was wondering if anyone has put a K@N filter on their car and what kind of HP and torque boost it gave you.
I have heard that it gives 3 or 4 HP but never got any thing for sure.

OUR cost of the K&N filter is $39.95
Our cleaning kit is $8.95 and lasts for a few cleans. You will save money over time with this.
The filter is on our web site www.performancenissanparts.com and we will be adding the cleaning kit shortly.
I paid $44.95 for mine, didn't notice any increase in HP, however, its good for 1 million miles, and you never have to discard it, just use the recharge kit.
I heard of some folks having problems with too much oil on the filter and the check engine light going off.
I haven't had a problem with mine.

Most reports I have seen say that there is not much (if any) power gain with the K&N filter install on a Z. The stock system is pretty good.
You _might_ see report of 1-2 HP, but that is well within the error margin of a dyno. Even full cold air kits aren't showing serious gains for the most part.
The check engine light problem is probably the oil on the air flow sensor problem. Oiled filters can deposit oil on the air flow sensor leading to a malfunction, a check engine light, and the costly replacement of the sensor.
Since it is hard to know _exactly_ how much oil to apply and since even the pro-filter people only claim 1-2 hp, I decided it was not worth the hassle and the risk.
Cleaning and re-oiling the filter can be a bit of messy chore, I have a K&N on my Durango where the alternate cold air intake kit actually makes a significant difference due to the poor stock airbox design.
Paper filters are cheap, easy to replace, and can't hurt the sensor.
that's just my opinion of course....

Before you replace your filter with a K&N, take your stock filter out if the air box, put your hand behind it, then blow through the filter. You can feel the air through it. Stock filter is already very high flow.
You should read my "which exhaust NOT to get" thread for another after market item that has no measurable affect on performance.

Basically, it's DDS, as in, "Doesn't Do S*it." IF, and that's a big if, there are any hp differences, it would be in the very low single digits, as in 1 or 2.
No differences by butt dyno, or real dyno.

While not a 350Z, here's a dyno of a G35 Coupe with a drop-in K&N filter.
Baseline was 233 peak hp. K&N drop-in was 238.3hp.
Sorry about the quality. It never was good, but it got worse when I reduced the size.
