Default Coolant Everywhere...Help!

I took my car out for a little drive tonight....probably about 10-15 minutes. Everything seemed ok....I came home, parked my car and just hung out. I heard a PSHHHH and went out and knew the smell...

The car sat for close to 10 minutes.

I popped the hood, and there's coolant on the bottom tray and front half of the motor....the top of the radiator was dry, and there was still pressure in the system.

Does anyone have any guesses on what I should be looking for or inspect first? My best guess is it popped a hose, but I have no idea where to look first. I'm hoping it's not something too serious....the worst part is my truck is at the bodyshop, so I don't have a vehicle!

Thanks

Make sure the car hasn't over heated and if not turn it on and watch to see where its coming from. Have someone sit in the car to make sure its not overheating. Sounds like a hose from the description.

^^^hopefully its just a hose, i hate the smell of antifreeze residue on a engine. i agree about letting your car cool down then visually inspect your hoses, check your radiator for cracks too, youll see dried up green...

2004 touring, 51k miles

I'll have to give it a better look in the morning...it was too dark out to see anything even with a flashlight.

+1. Time for some silicone hoses now. Make sure to wash all that coolant off once you find the leak too...

Ah...well it was dark in my defense....

It was actually refrigerant, or whatever is used now.

The a/c line somehow rubbed against the compressor, and blew it right off the back. The tech said it's special order from nissan...so of course it's not a cheap fix, but I suppose it could have been worse. That would explain the very loud pshhh sound.

Nope,

I would say that's probably the worst line to break when the car is parked (driving is a different story). Definately the most expensive and hardest to replace. Wow that must have really been loud. Refrigerent lines are pressurized heavily and when they get disconnected they let you know...

Yeah...the line is $175, it's only an hour labor from the shop, and then the cost to recharge the system.

I didn't actually hear it, but I was told it sounded exactly like a tire all of a sudden going flat.
