My theory on Z drivetrain loss
Pectel is a nice option...hopefully their tech support has improved in the last couple of years! What made you go with Pectel vs Motec (who I think has tested with the VQ motor already)?
Good luck to you either way - unlike most of the benchtop racers we have here, your input and knowledge will show us how to improve the shortcomings of the car in the real world.

westpak,
im not missing the point i understand where everyone is coming from, some of us caught the shaft, but my point is that the car isnt all that slow, would the extra 14 horse power they u might not have made u decide against buying the Z, our car is heavy as hell for its class, so of course our 0-60's are slower, why do u think there are so many performance parts out for this car only a year after its been made. All i'm sayin is that hands down Im glad that i choose the Z over others, its a great car and just enjoy it, thats all.

First of all I want to say.............
I love this car.......regardless of how much power it has or doesnt. to me thats the fun is adding to it. In the race world........a driver will never argue about more power.

Actually I believe PECTEL was first used on the VQ engines on the Nissan touring cars in Europe a few years back. It was then used on the VQ3.3 ltr engines in the SRP2 Lola cars for the Rolex series.
We had made plans at the begining of the year to go to this system right away but we wanted to work on suspension and reliability issues first.
At the end of this year we have put well over 8000 RACE miles on our car..........hard race miles....thats development!
We are working on retaining the OEM ABS system now. The OEM brake system is very very good.

I do love the car, after doing suspension mods I can't imagine driving a better handling car, but the power is a downer, that is why I got a used 300ZX TT and will begin to mod to get the power bug out of my system. They are such different cars.

I'm getting really sick and tired of all the "Z is a pig" comments and "The Z is underpowered". I don't ever hear anyone say that the EVO is "underpowered" even though it weighs right around what the Z does and has near the same power. I don't ever hear of anyone saying that a 996 911 Carrera is a "pig" even though up until this year it had very similiar power to the Z and is right around the same weight.
does anyone think break in of the engine have anything to do with dyno results, and if you did break in the engine right doesnt mean the guy who test drove it before you didnt. did anyone take delevery of there z right off the turck, break it in right and get higher results
