OS Giken Super-lock LSD Review
Thanks for the heads up, its probably one of the speed sensors, gotta figure out if they just need to be cleaned or if one's gone bad. This post explains the EXACT problem I'm having:

Drivesolo and anyone reading,
I initially used Motul SAE90 with my OS and I've had no problems. I'm going to attend two separate track events in the next two months so I'm already thinking ahead about chaning my fluids. Basically, I'm curious if I should still use Motul SAE90 or go with OS Giken brand fluid "that's made for OS LSDs"

Anyone think it makes a difference?

Never tried the OS fluid. The Motul 90 seems to be good for 2 track days and all the driving in between. Seems like you could buy 4x as much Motul for the price of the OS. I dunno if the OS will last 4x as long.
I suppose no one has tried the OS fluid because no one is aware of it's existence. You have a point however - frequency will outperform constancy. In other words, I should be fine with motul, amsoil, etc as long as I change the fluid frequently (after X amount of track days). I'll stick with SAE90 since I already started using it. Thanks all.
You might want to check w/ OS Giken, but when I did the install it was only intended for non-LSD pumpkins. They did at the time say that they were working on one for LSD pumpkins. It might be available now.
I don't know what special Japanese fairy goo is in the Giken fluid, but my experience has been it absolutely eliminates the binding/chattering/hopping on tight, low speed turns. You can use all the best fluids like Amsoil, Motul or Castrol with friction inhibitors but the diff probably won't be quiet.
Giken says you NEVER have to change it out regardless of track use, but I'd probably still do so every 2 years just 'cause that's too hard for me to believe. Giken USA has a long list of dealers on their site where you can find it. I think Z1 also sells it.

You'll need the open diff for this LSD unless you get an install kit:

I think Z1 just sells the LSD with the needed drive shaft.

I also just installed the OS Giken diff in my Z. I drift and its a damn good diff, but then again I have nothing to compare it to bc I have not drifted another z with another diff other than the stock VLSD which for drifting might as well be an open diff
To answer some questions:
You can drop it into a viscous pumpkin or an open pumpkin, you however will need another stub axle(either the shorter stub axle off the stock VSLD or any of the stub axles off an open diff, i used one from a VSLD) its a pretty straight forward install
Fluids: OS Giken recommends their fluid as it is a 80w-250 oil, I would not recommend putting a low viscosity fluid in compared to what they recommend, you will not get the same response.
I used a Royal Purple 70-90 for the first 300 miles, its not a major difference for daily driving but the transitions seemed smoother with the new fluid (however this could all be in my head or it could be the clean fluid)
The fluid is really expensive though as you need 2 cans (2 liters) to do it. So up to you, but the diff is pretty expensive itself
I will be buying an OS Giken clutch soon just bc of how much I liked the diff
Anyhow I am not trying to push this diff because I sell it (if anyone wants any OS Giken parts including oil pm me) but it really is well made....

I have yet to track w/ mine yet, but after 1500 miles the slow clunky wheel hop is pretty apparent - I swapped fluids from the motul 75 90 to the 75 140 smurf fluid then added a little friction inhibitor - and this thing is pretty damn quiet now - totally a night and day difference. When track day comes it was suggested to me though to do another fluid swap to irradicate the the additive as running w/ this in a extended performance enviorment might lead to premature wear and possibly unexpected results....As for now, couldnt be happier.
It's been over a year since I installed the LSD and at least two track days and autoX practice since my last post. LSD is still street friendly and super smooth as it was the day I installed it. I was at an autoX practice this past weekend (7 runs) and still feels amazing. I've put about 5k miles on it so far. The 2 things that I've noticed is that the rear tires are obviously wearing significantly more than the fronts. I would say that since the LSD install they have are wearing at a rate of more than 2x as the fronts and that's the set that only sees street use. I will probably need to replace the rears before the end of the summer at this rate. For my r-comps, where the fronts seemed to wear more than the rears, they now seem to wear at an almost equal rate (combined track & autoX).
I put Redline 75W140 (http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=134&pcid=4) about a month ago and haven't noticed anything from it. Didn't seem to be an issue autoX-ing. I'll be looking forward to seeing how long this lasts.

I got the OS Giken LSD for over a year, mainly intense track day use and some driftings. I changed the Diff. oil with red line 75w140 every other track days. Still felt like new and quiet, one of the best LSDs I ever had.

So what are the effects of using say a 75w140 oil vs using the recommended 80w-250?
