Best bang for the buck oil cooler?
Looking at installing an oil cooler on my car, what's the best bang for the buck kit out there?
Also if a DIY piece together kit is the best option, could you please post links to the random parts needed? No ebay links please.
Thanks!

I hate to say it, but I spent over $450 on my parts but I went will SS braided Aeroquip hose, reusable Aeroquip fittings, all top-of-the-line stuff. On a budget, you could probably do it for around $350. eBay junk and you can do it for $150-$250.

Tru-cool or Earls are both value oriented but not no-name/unknown quality vendors. Some great DIYs w/ part# on the 370Z site, google "modshack oil cooler." Just installed a 25 row Mocal in my Nismo, pix/writeup coming soon!

Jeffie...you can do this yourself pretty easily. The only recommendation I have is go with the nicer stuff like the Earls or something and spend the extra money on fittings and lines. The Aeroquip stuff is really nice as mentioned above.

I'm not trying to do it cheap, I'm trying to do the best bang for the buck =)
I'd rather spend 500 on a kick *** setup rather then 800-1000 + on some of the big name ones that most likely wont work any better/worse.

We don't have lines ready yet for our 350Z kit but this LINK shows our 370Z cooler kits. All stainless braided lines with aluminum swivel fittings, Mocal sandwich adapters, Setrab coolers and brackets.
We're working on a custom bracket that will bolt into factory holes in the core support for the 350Z but our 370Z kits could be adapted to use.
We'll also have the listings up next week for the individual parts for a DIY kit.

If you look in those two DIY threads you'll see that people are mounting them all over the front end. That's one thing about the DIY setup, you buy enough hose to put it anywhere. Some of the kits will limit where it can go by virtue of the length of the supplied hoses.

I have been looking at doing a oil cooler as well. I have thought about the Z1 one, but There is something already mounted there.
So I search around on my350 here an found some real good threads. I plan on do about the same kind of install as this.

I say piece it together. You're more than capable of doing it. Depending on space, I have my mounted vertifically within the wheel well. It's bolted in with 8 bolts. It's been holding up fine. Lines are just good old fashion Goodyear and fittings were picked up locally. Sandwhich ordered from summit with just a normal 6x12? core. Only problems I have run into is the lines getting split between the oil pan and sway bar. It's been rerouted over and around the sway bar now, so I'm hoping no new problems.

^^^ That's the one I have - it's probably not the actual picture. It's more square than that. The actual dimensions are 8¼x5x2". It looks more like the middle one in this picture...
