My engine rebuild was coming along on schedule until I hit a snag with the new Tomei cams!! It seems the 268's cannot be adjusted with the stock lifters so Nissan had to order additional lifters. I believe they told me they come in 27 ( or was it 54 ) different sizes. I should receive them this Monday and hopefully finish it up by mid-week. Everything else ( new heads, pistons, rods, balancing, etc.) worked without a hitch!

The forged pistons (CP) & rods (Pauter) were bought from SGP Racing! The new heads are stock from Nissan but I sent them off and had them port & polished ( also had the same done to the intake) .
Blownaway: I too bought JWT springs & retainers! So if I had to guess , I would say you will probably have the same problem. I'll check with my engine builder tomorrow to see if I can give you more details. I really don't consider this a problem but I'm sure you agree it would have been nice to know before we bought them. I'll PM you with an update tomorrow evening!

That's the info I was going to get for you on Monday. I didn't even ask at the time about the price because they said I had to have them !! I also called Kyle @ SGP Racing on Friday and he wasn't aware that additional lifters were going to be needed. I did not buy the cams from SGP but just wanted to know what Kyle knew. I'll get you part #'s and prices. Mike

How are things coming....I was looking at purchasing the Tomei 268's as well. Do you have part #'s yet for the lifters required for use with the 268's to make them work???

The lifters from Nissan are $16 a piece!!! To get my Tomei 268's adjusted correctly I will need an additional 16 lifters of varied sizes ( two of this size, three of that size, & so on). I can get you the exact sizes I ordered but it's possible you might need different combinations if the 268 cams are re-grinds & therefore not identical. My mechanic suggests that at install your installer should make the measurements then and order accordingly. My lifters "did not come in today" but should receive them all by Wednesday. This is turning into a pain in the *** but it might all be worth it! Who knows? Anyway, I can't stop since I'm this far into it already. I might suggest you wait a few days until mine is finished & dynoed and I can pass on some HP & Torque numbers!

Thanks for the information, What you are talking about are shims, not lifters and you could get lucky if he measured correctly and only need the one size set, instead of reshimming several times, that is when it gets expensive...Please pass on as much info as you have, since I am right behind you. I really appreciate it...If you every need anything Nismo, or NIssan, let me know I can get you my cost on it...

Adam ( Performance) was right on when he stated " I'm curios to see the A/F ratios after the 268's are installed!! Dyno'ed yesterday and the A/F stayed over 15 until 5000 rpm's and then drifted to about 13.8 @ 7000 rpm's! I'll be sending back my ECU (along with the charts) to TS to see what they can do with it. All I had TS due the first go around was to add fuel (upper range) & remove rev limiters! Because I also run n20, I opted out of advancing the timing! I had an increase of 28.7 RWHP but keep in mind I also switched to a JWT flywheel along with the internals ( pistons & rods) ! My car is no longer " driver friendly " with the stage 3 clutch , flywheel, & cams @ lower rpm's but I like it!! ( very noticable " lope "). I did need the 16 additional lifters for those that were interested.

Thanks for the info. We have had several customers come to us to install the 268 cams, but until T/S can get the programming down, we have stayed with the Nismo's only so far. I can hardly wait to get a set in a customers car as I want to see/hear this idle. The only other problem I see is the expense of the cam buckets. Good to hear you got it in and running. Keep us informed on the T/S program. Thanks. Jeff

when I was at a dyno shop the past weekend, and the owner had shown me this dyno result of a local Z here that has Tomei cams, ECU, ram air intake, straight pipe and exhaust...I believe the number was around 286 whp? I dynoed my car at 253.9whp, not much of horse power gain, guess there not much room if you want to go NA.....

So ~292 now and probably over 300rwhp after adding some more fuel to the mix... nice!
