Nismo GT Pro LSD help
Just got the Nismo LSD for my Base Z, it's pre-set to 1.5 way but can be changed to 2-way. My Z is my DD but I also will be learning to drift in it once I get the Nismo LSD installed. I tried a little drifting with the open diff but one time I spun out and smacked a curb so I'm not trying any more until I get this LSD in. I called Function:TUNED in Virginia to see if they could install it for me and they recommended keeping it 1.5 way instead of setting it to 2-way. They told me 2-way is too dangerous for the street. I am inexperienced but is it really that hazardous for the street? Is 1.5-way still good for drifting? Which is safer in rain/snow (If I drive in snow I'll have snow tires though)? Thanks for any info and sorry if it's been covered already...
I have a KAAZ 2-way in my base and I love it. 1.5 is more ideal, but if you want to drift then 2 is the way to go. Do you understand what the difference is between 1.5 and 2 way? A 1.5 will lock under acceleration, and a 2 way will lock under acceleration and deceleration. I'm sure a veteran will step in and explain this better for you.
I think you can get into trouble easier in wet conditions with a 2 way which you would encounter in daily driving, but if your good you'll be fine. I have been for 2 years.

If you have no experience drifting then don't set it to 2way. You only need the lock up under deceleration when you are able to use decent corner entry speeds and can take advantage of the rear locking up when you let off the gas. If you use the car on the street and in wet/ice conditions then it will become very unstable. Think about it, your coming off the highway off an off-ramp, and as soon as you let off the gas your back end starts to twitch and before you know it you've lost the back end and hit a wall.
The diff is adjustable so you have nothing to lose. Try it on 1.5way first and once you get used to it and get more experienced at drifting, then you can simply adjust it to 2way.

Ya really the important thing is to not have a open diff. Wait till you get it in there and you go for a drive. You can get on the gas way harder in corners with a lsd. It's a must. You should also consider a 3.9 final drive set, I have one from 350EVO.
I haven't really looked into the final drive gear sets but that would be something down the road for me. What I really want to do after the LSD is increase throttle response. Idk how to do that but I would love to push the pedal in and not have to wait and predict when the tachometer is going to jump. Just feels like it would make driving so much easier and pleasurable.

Sweet thanks man I just read about the Sprint Booster. It modifies the pedal's input to trick the ECU. But is there actually a way to eliminate or bypass the ECU altogether so that there is no delay at all?
Yeah man that's it, bypass the ECU... That should do it! And don't forget to bypass the master cylinder to increase break times while you are at it... Seriously, do more research on ECU flashing & mapping you'll be able to understand your issue with throttle response from a different level...
