Default 06 Engine Swapped Due To High Oil Consumption?

I'm looking at a 2006 350z and it had oil consuption issues, so its engine got replaced in 2007. I've read that this is a fairly common problem with 05/06 350z's.

My question: is the engine for this change just a 2007 350z engine?

Also, after replacing the engine, does the oil consumption problem go away?

No man... I think what he's asking is when Nissan replaces the engine do they replace them with a revised version of the REV up.

Nissan will give you the engine for your year.

for your year? Does that mean a 06 z will get a revised 06 engine, or just a new 06 engine?

Thanks

Mine got an 06 Rev Up with theoretically revised internals that solved the problem. It currently has 13k on it and looses no oil.

Correct. 2006 is the VQ35DE RevUp motor.
2007 is the VQ35HR motor.
Doubt is Nissan replaced the VQ35DE with a VQ35HR.

BTW does a new motor have a 60 month warranty?

If Nissan is like Toyota... the answer is likely No.

You probably get the remainder of your original warranty.

Nissan doesn't replace the entire engine. Just the block. And it's a revised one, for the 06's...

Pretty sure they get the engines as a complete assembly. Just easier for their techs that way. Had a buddy that did an R+R on an oil consumption deal and they paid him like 8 hours in warrantee time.

The real kicker is that they just toss the old engines right out the back door. If someone was so inclined and knew someone at a dealership, you could get a real steal on an engine ready for a rebuild...

+1... Heads and block come as an assembly, or at least thats how Toyota does it. All the accessories come over from the original failed block.

+2. When Nissan replaced mine, for oil consumption, the work order said "long block assembly". The rest of the hardware was from the original engine.

This does not sound right. Nissan parts installed by Nissan are good for 12,000 miles. The motor is a part right?

Hmmm... it all depends really. Certain parts have certain warranties.. again I can only speak for Toyota but parts only have 12month warranty.
