Default New engine chip???

Just got the latest issue of AutoWeek and there is an article in there that talks about Nismo parts now being stocked by Nissan and Infiniti dealers and covered under Nissan warranty, etc etc.

The interesting item was their mention of a chip for the G35 that improved it by 15HP! Anyone know if there is a similar chip for the 350....or is this one just getting the G35 to the same place the Z already is??

Here's what the author said...

"The Skyline was first, with a new chip in the engine management system for 15 more hp, as well as springs, shocks, antiroll bars, and wheels and tires."

Later in the article when he talked about the Z, he says it had new "springs, shocks, antiroll bars, brembo brake pads, and wheels and tires for a sportier demeanor. The Z was lowered 20 millimters and rode on Bridgestone Potenza S-03 245/40ZR-18's front and 275/40ZR-18's rear." and then the very interesting thing he said was.... "....but while you can gripe about the way it's delivered, you can't complain about the extra 5 percent of hp." This 5% is just about the 15HP he talked about on the G35!! So it at least SOUNDS like there is indeed a new chip out for the Z too...though it wasn't specifically stated as such in the article.

Dunno...but the whole gist of the article was that NISMO parts were now being stocked by Nissan dealers in the US....about 60% of the NISMO catalog will be available here.

Yeah sounds like the nismo "sports resetting" package that includes the ECU, new plugs, and highflow cats.

Not to go too OT but what's interesting to me is how they offer the ECU + cats together. It kinda fits in with how i've witnessed that the Z's with stock cat replacements (test pipes or HF cats) seem to be all making some power but running lean.

That is very interesting. I read where all the automakers including the American car makers have become very aware of the high dollars being spent in aftermarket mods. Most of them are making plans to have lots of aftermarket stuff available from the dealers in order to capture some of that money. They also think people will be more inclined to buy mods from them so that the warranty issues are not there and also the mods can be financed along with the price of the car.

Automakers had a big presense at SEMA and are starting to see the big bucks they are missing out on, both in performance and appearance mods.
