damn so what is wrong with mine? I know the dealer is going to say it is normal but I realy don't think it should burn half the oil in 3k miles. so if I did syn. oil and do an oil change at 5k miles with out toping up I would be low on oil?

Hmmm, my '03 uses 1 qt every 2500 miles. It's a 6MT with 94K miles.

edit: OP, that's a 1/2 qt every 3000 miles. That's fine IMO. Every engine uses some oil.

My 03' and my wife's old 04' burned some oil when we used synthetic.

You are out of warranty, so just change it at 3k or add to keep it topped off. That's no problem. 1/2 the dipstick is not burning 1/2 the oil. It sounds like you need about 1/2 quart, but make sure you check it after the car has sat idle for at least 10 minutes.

Drove a 350Z for 75,000 miles. Never added an ounce of oil. A motor with less than 100,000 miles should not burn oil.

Recommend a compression test.

EDIT: 2.5 quarts of oil in 3,000 miles is about 1 quart/1,200 miles. You know that is not right.

I have an extended warranty but I know they are going to give me some BS to make it sound normal. But it just might be the nature of the VQ

Ive actually read about a lot of DE's burning some oil. 1/2 qt every 3k isnt that bad. I burn the same amount of oil. I change mine between 4-5k and usually end up using 1/2-3/4 of a quart depending on what oil I use. Never tried running dino oil, dont want too.
