Default alternator ground question

hey all, about to get the z up and running. had a short on the alternator, and now got everything situated. however the ground on the alternator is the metal threaded post on the innermost part of the alternator correct? that wire connects to the chassis as it was from the factory correct?

at this time everything is wired up as is, however the only thing holding me back is the alternator ground, as im stumped to where it goes. the post is too big to go through the ground strap hole. helpz please!!

The '07 service manual shows an alternator connector and a "B" terminal harness. It doesn't show a ground wire. The "B" terminal harness has a large ring terminal that fits on the screw on the back of the alternator, and it's held on with a nut. The screw is usually surrounded with a plastic insert that insulates it electrically from the housing.

Alternators are usually grounded through the mounting to the engine. Check the SM for your year to be sure.

"this was found on page 33 of section pg33"

What pdf are you looking at? I just read page 19 of section SC of the '07 manual. It says the alternator is grounded to the engine block. The removal and installation procedures do not mention a ground wire being attached to the alternator, and the figure doesn't show one.

Look through section SC of the SM for your year. It's not something that's likely to change, though.

yea my .[df was for the revup, the hr has a considerable amount of changes, but your right, the alternator is ground through the block itself, and sorted out the ground straps, but i appreciate the help alot!!
