Default Flywheel + Clutch Replacement for $2700+??!! HELP!

So my clutch just stays depressed and doesn't come up.. I thought it would be either the clutch line, or master/slave cylinder issue but nissan dealership is saying its the flywheel and clutch.

They want $2700 for parts and labor saying parts alone will be $1100+.

Calls to two different pep boys..
1st said it would cost about $1000 for everything (said cheaper if they can just re-surface the flywheel)
2nd said it would cost $550 for labor plus part cost

I know the dealership is a ripoff for repairs but should the discrepancy be this big? Would it be better to just have pep boys do it or is there something better about the dealership?

I'm in socal (OC area) and if anyone got their flywheel + clutch replaced at a local shop for a good price. Could you let me know.. I rather support them than the dealership.

THANKS!

OP, is you car 07-08? then its not the clutch, its the CSC. (when that happen, did you noticed oil under the car?)

if you are in the Lower Socal Area, I'm in the Inland empire and can take care of you no problem. I am an Authorized SZ Dealer and Installer. I can give you a killer deal on our Flywheel, Clutch and CSC Combo.

I hope DavidV is younger than 18. If not it looks like he's a pederass. Hide yo kids, hide yo wife.

Sorry I'm feeling like a jackass today.

OP. I would take your car to bardabe or another reputable shop like others have suggested. The Specialty Z setup looks pretty good, and will most likely be what I purchase some time next year.

Are you already out of the warranty on an '08?

If the clutch was working OK before the pedal stuck at the floor, I'd suspect it's just the CSC. Did they show you the parts they say need to be replaced, or are they making a diagnosis based on what they'd like to sell you?

Yeah, I'm at 40,000 daily driver..

The clutch was fine, then suddenly it got wouldn't come up all the way after I changed gears.. it would stay right above the "sweet spot". Then after a couple more gear changes it stayed fully depressed.

The dealership did a diagnostic on the car and the service advisor called me and said it wasn't a cylinder issue but a flywheel and clutch. =[

I didn't abuse this car and I don't understand how the flywheel could go out at just 40k.. sigh..

Your flywheel didn't let go...you will have bigger issues if it did. I would get a second opinion from a shop that deals with Z's, like Precision Z. It could just be a slave cylinder.

All the things that might cause the symptoms you describe are inside the bell housing. A blown slave would be obvious because the oil would be leaking out, but it could be the piston is just stuck in the slave cylinder.

It's remotely possible the some part of the pressure plate has broken, but that's VERY unlikely without serious abuse.

A real diagnosis would require removing the transmission. Without doing that, I'd say they're just guessing.

have you tried messing with the clutch fork? cause if the pivot ball broke you could have similar problems and they are only a 5 dollar part

But don't you still have to remove the transmission to fix it?

Oops. I forgot the OP has a HR.

07 / 08 don't have a clutch fork, we have a Concentric Slave Cylinder.

I'm telling you man. I can give you a sick deal on the SZ Clutch flywheel and CSC Combo.
