It sounds like English, but I can't understand a word you're saying.

The flywheel has nothing to do with cold idle RPM.

Reaching operating temperature is primarily the function of the thermostat.

I had to read the second post twice.

Agree w/davidv

Sounds like an idle adjustment is needed.

there is no cold start idle adjustment that I am aware of...the car does what it does. Your cold start rpm was the same before the flywheel as it was after as mentioned

The cold idle speed in my '08 350Z is a bit higher than what I've seen on several 370Zs at similar temperatures. The dealer service people tell me it's that way to get the cats up to temperature quickly to reduce pollution, and there's no way to change it. If that's the real reason, I don't see why the 370Zs would have a lower cold idle speed.

I imagine it could be changed by reflashing the ECU, but I doubt it's worth the cost or effort. The highest I've seen is about 1900rpms, but it doesn't get really cold here.

The cold temp idle is what it is. the colder it get the longer it will idle at that speed. use a good brand synthetic oil and you will be ok.

I have taken a few college courses on lubrication and seen videos compairing synthetic and conventional at -35 it took 5w30 over a mintue it reach the top end and the synthetic was less then 10 sec. I also went to an irving lube plant the the chemist who made the oil took oil out of a freezer and the synthetic poured no problem.

i understand what you all are saying however what i am trying to get at is the dry start when you turn your car on for the first time after it has been siting in the cold it takes your oil forever to get to the top of the motor. and with the lighter flyweel it reves highter (with no oil in it) it sounded like a cement mixer till the oil got to the top and thats what i am trying to put a stop to. sorry for the wording i cant stand typing lol

That's why they make engine pre-oilers. Google is your friend.

Google "pre-oiler". Go from there. I don't have any personal experience with them to base an opinion on.
