Default aftermarket oil pressure sending unit?

i joined the club of " my oil pressure reads damn high!" On my way home, the oil pressure gauge was reading beyond 120psi and around 120 psi at idle. i was so scared that it might have to do with engine...,Drove home slowly and started searching the forum. Voila! oil pressure sending unit failure LOL
Is this something that you HAVE to replace right away? the sending units cost like $65 but i'm thinking, is there any aftermarket oil pressure gauge that comes with the sending unit?
I autox my car so it'll be nice to have a separate gauge..if cheap
I ordered a Stillen oil pan and ready to install it next week. Everything needs to be put in order before autox event, jan 30th. If i don't fix the oil pressure sending unit when it's time to install oil pan (draining oil), i'd have to wait till the next oil change UNLESS it's not NECESSARY to drain oil or remove oil filter when replacing the unit.

$65 is about right. Must you replace it? Not sure what happens if you run the motor at 120 plus PSI. The weakest link will fail. That may be the oil filter.

If the gauge reads 120 psi because of failure of sensor then i shouldn't have to worry about the engine actually running 120 psi oil pressure..
