Oh forgot one other thing, Valve Stem height (how long the valves are). Its also possible/likely the stem's height was too long, and they needed to be cut down. In any case, the valves need close attention, and are not plug and play in the VQ. Too many clearences that need a machinist or a new part to adjust.

Back from the dead!!! LOL. Well guys here the story, I had to go to Murillo Motorsports in San Antonio to take my car out on a WRECKER!!! Man my car sounded like crap, a lot of valvetrain noises man I was so pissed and still had to pay $2200 for their shiddy *** work what a rip off huh, but hey it's in a better place now (not heaven) it is now being worked on by Nissan proffesionals at Uprev. These guys are the bomb and the people I should oc taken the car to in the first place. These guys send me picture updates and everything.

Everything is taken apart once again heads ready to be shipped to the machine shop.

^ look at the oil filter the cheap bastards from Murrillo used. I barely noticed right now. Fram might be a good filter but I expect the best for my car especially if I'm paying top dollar for it. I'm getting ripped off for it.

It's very important to do your research and choice a clean, well equipped & experienced shop!!! Very key!.. I two have had to redo other shops work. Either me personally or another shop!.. Nothing pisses me off more then when Tech's take short cuts, which in turn cost me more money/time for their incompetence.... Arrrrr

I would go after them! The pics you posted earlier of all your engine and car parts in a HEAP of trash really worried me!!!! Who does that????!!!! They didn't respect your car- "property" at all.

Anyhoo.... I really wish to see an HR stroker build dyno output. Nothing crazy! Or possibly a gtm stroker with Tomei cams dyno sheet with supporting mods. I wanna discuss this with my shop during my next visit. I would like to increase my Torque curve. As well as Horsepower, reliably.

If I were you and I had the cash, I would do the gtm Stroker kit. Build a 3.8L or 4.2L

The engine is out. It's all torn apart. Now is the time! I really want to see Dyno #'s from one. I think this could be the way I'll go.

I believe the 4.2L would require sleeves. You'd be the first I've seen

I'm not saying anytime soon but over the winter I think its feasible. I would weigh the costs of a 4.2L and yes the cylinders need a resleave against a 3.8L with cams.

I have somethings I can sell laying around to raise the funds. I enjoy the linear power my 4.0L stroker has in my Frontier.

It's just an option I am considering.

4.2 liters for an HR may not require sleeves, I'm not sure whether it would or not. If I'm reading the description right on GTM's website they have a 96mm crank and 96 mm bore pistons which will get you to 4.2 liters without having to use sleeves. I don't know if this is even technically possible since I'm not a machinist but thats going from a stock crank of 81.4 mm to 96 mm, that's a pretty damn big increase. Supposedly with sleeves and 100 mm bore pistons you would be at 4.5 Liters.

I don't know anything about this kit except what the link states below.

It also mentions FI pistons I would imagine you could pick out what wiseco pistons you would want for desired compression. With today's gas prices I would stick with 93 octane fuel. I burn enough race fuel in my jet skis @ $8-12 a gallon

Nothing against GTM but those numbers seem odd, not sure if they were trying to keep the costs down (no sleeves) or if there was a true benefit to the long stroke. General rule of thumb is, increase to stroke give a torquier motor geared towards lower revs and increase to bore is more geared towards horsepower and higher revs. With a 96 mm stroke and a 7500 redline you got disaster looming right behind you. Look at it this way, modern sportbikes have lower piston speeds reving to 13,000 or 14,000 rpms.
