Default @ 90k, moving from 5w-30 to 10w-30

So I've been told since I'm hitting 90k on miles and pretty soon 100k on mileage, that I should switch to 10w-30 because "it is better for my car.." Yet the person who told me this couldn't give me a reason why it was... Is this true?

I honestly don't know the answer to this because most cars I've had were leases, and this is the 1st car I've had past 60-70k because I <3 it.. plus I actually bought it this time Thanks guys!

Same weight oil, just one is thinner when cold. 10w30 is fine for a car in your climate.
