Ultra S contains the crank pulley only.
Ultra SS contains the whole 3 pulley set. (Crank, Water Pump, Alternator)

None of them come with belts.

Ultra SS since it lightens the other pulleys as well.

OK, dumb question. If the underdrive pulley gains power, then it is robbing it from other systems in the car, right? If yes, then it makes the air conditioner less effective and work harder. Is there a component longevity problem down the road as those systems have to work harder? Every action has a reaction, is the increased parasitic loss to other systems negligiable?

I don't think it makes the other components work hard; I think they just work less effectively. i.e. the air conditioner does not blow air as hard.

The reason why I have no doubts on the pulleys from UR is because I've read about Maxima (VQ30DE) owners having these pulleys for over 100,000 miles w/o any problems to any component of the vehicle.

Default pulley

So I'm partially correct, the efficiency of other systems is somewhat reduced, but probably not a wear problem in the long term. Thanks, Vic.

No prob Keith.

Happy Thanksgiving!

edit: I forgot to clarify that the UR pulleys actually free up power that is being used by accessories. It doesn't help the engine produce any more power. It makes more of the existing power get to the ground.

There will be no change in how hard the AC blows. There will be an impercebtible difference on how cold it gets though.

What about alternator function and the dimming of the lights while sitting still at a light? do you get any of that with the UR pulleys?

Default UR Pulleys

Have them on mine for 3 months , only the crank pulley is smaller the others are the same size ,only light weight , and have not noticed any dimming of lights or air conditioning problems at all

Underdrive pulley's actually extend the life of your accessories. since the spin slower, they spin less which equals longer life. As for your A/C and alternator, etc., they only noticable decrease in output would be at idle. A typical alternator is giving its maximum output at about 1500 engine rpms. A/C the same.
