Default What a little love can do

Hey Guys,

So I was so stoked by the results that I got this last weekend that I wanted to post up about them.

So I decided that I wanted to give up a weekend and give the VQ a little love. So I pulled the plugs, resealed the valves and ran a compression test, 1. 188 2. 186 3. 190 4. 189 5. 190 6. 192 honestly couldn't have asked for better for a 04' with 48K miles but anyways... I can't begin to tell you what a difference it made! Its like a whole new car and it honestly surprised me..

With 48k miles I didnt expect the plugs to be as bad as they were! and the valve job was just something extra that I wanted to do to increase the life of the motor but wow... the power balance and response time is like it just rolled out of the factory. Shifts smoother and idles better then the GF on my co.... oh my bad... but better!

So a word to all my peoples here if you havent checked your plugs and you have a good amount of miles on the car, it could be a quick inexpensive thing you can do, that might just bring your Z back to its former glory.

I've never seen a simple spark plug change have that much effect on a car before but maybe thats just me. Keep in mind my plugs were in pretty bad shape coming off at 48K miles but if your feeling a drop in performance in a older higher mileage Z but before the recommend tune up mark. I say change them regardless. I believe the dealer manual says to change after over 100k miles... that seems a little much in my opinion but whatever. Just saying couldn't hurt to try it, might have the same results that I did.

Peace!

Buy new valve covers for the spark plug o-rings? Or pull the head for valve seals? Which is an extreme job at only 48k miles.

My bad I didn't explain that well... No definitely didn't do intake and exhaust valve seals that would be extreme for 48k miles I agree and would be a waste of time, effort and money if they weren't bad or leaking. Sorry I meant a new valve cover gasket and the o-rings. which was probably excessive to but whatever.

I found a little oil on cylinder 5's plug so I just decided to do the gasket and rings. Gasket was old and cracking so it was worth it to do.

How did you do the O rings when they are apart of the valve covers?
