2007 MT Base 4.083 Gears with Quaife LSD Review
Oh were to start. There are my findings after installing the 4.083 Gears with Quaife LSD. There is a little noise from the LSD but that is described and addressed in other threads so I won't go into it. I was hoping it wouldn't happen but it did. My initial impressions were I could immediately tell the difference throughout the higher gears(3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th). 6th by the way is awesome now. Before the gear change I had a problem with speeding I will admit that I have a heavy foot and would constantly catch myself doing 90 cruising down the freeway. After the swap no more of that I cruise at 75 which takes care of that and having to constantly watch myself due to the lack of cruise control.
Gas mileage, im getting 26mpg on the freeway crusing at 75 to 80 through out a full take of gas. I had a 5 hour drive so it was easy to gauge that. City driving isn't to bad either im getting 19.5 right now with driving around base here at Fort Leonard Wood. So that's pretty much consistent stop and got never going past 35mph.
Now track experience. I took it there that night. 60ft times were terible I couldnt get traction in 1st and wheel hop was a pain. Oh and I only had a chance to get to a 1000ft track..
2.11 60ft 11.12@96.73 1000ft time.
This is with no other mods and appox. a 1/4 tank of gas. It pulled hard all the way the the end of the track. I was even told I have to wear my helmet now which is pretty cool because I have never had that issue before.
Anyway just thought I would post my thoughts.
I can't really think of a better mod.

edit: I have some video footage and time slips I'll try and get added later.

I'm kinda wondering what an LSD has to do with traffic tickets. If I feel like accelerating through a turn, I can punch it much harder before losing traction so if anything I'd think it would contribute to *less* reckless ops tickets.

I take my Z and gf out to julian ca where there are some twisties. pushed the limit of the open dif(not hard) and scared teh gf 1/2 to death by gettin a lil 1 wheel drift action comin out of a turn... she said "we arent going back out there unless you get that LSD thingy"
Maybe I should just pull the trigger

Alright anyway back on track.
I am currently running shitty Nexan 3000 245/45/18's
They came on the car.
As far as why I switched the gear ratio well considering they are gears so high for N/a I figured pulling the gear ratio closer together would give me more power through out the gears or more access to it if that makes any since. In case it didn't to circumvent flaming I know that the HP numbers do not change with a gear change.
