Default Bad axle? Good axle?

Hi, guys. I bought used rear axle for my 04 350z last week on ebay from nissanunlimited. First one they send me was like this:

So you can see there is a grease coming out from the place where the metal circle connects to the differential.

So I called Nissanunlimited and told them that the axle is not good and after submitting the pics to them they sent me a replacement and told me I can keep the old one.

The replacement came like this:

Obviously it is in even worse condition than the first one. So I called them again and they said that their technician positive that this is a normal condition for the rear axle and what I need to do is just fill this up with the grease, top it off with this little round plate and install the axle and it will be good to go...

I got kind of confused a little bit because this is not the first time I replacing the axle and never thought that this is normal. The first axle I replaced came like this (the right one on the picture):

And the old one I removed from the car is this one:

In Nissanunlimited they told me that If I want I can send it back to them and get a refund but I just want to ask you guys about your opinion on all of the above. May be it is normal to install the axles like that and I'm not going to have any problem with them in the future?

Thanks!

So that's the question! Is it ok for that thing to come off? Isn't it suppose to be sealed compeletely?

Should be (at least makes sense) that it should be a sealed unit that is greased for life. Should not have to add grease or should ever come out if it's a good unit. If it is just one of your axles that is bad and you feel brave, take the good one off the diff and see what it should look like
