So that is what Tomei 268s feel like...
Many thanks to Mike Edens (Mjedens) for once again letting me pilot his car for another incredible experience.
Remember Mike is the one whom has completely built his motor, forged internals, etc. - I have yet to drive it since then. I HAD however driven it several times while it was running the 200 shot.
The only negative thing I can say is an EVER so detectible loss of torque sub 3k RPM. Even then, the more important comment should be... why was I down there!
Gently crusing off the line the car feels very tame (minus his Stage 3 clutch and flywheel)... then you romp on it - no immeadiate torque (again that loss from cams)... though once you hit 3500-4000 all hell breaks loose.
From a steady roll, once you hit that RPM ... "BAM" the tires come out from under you and you are fighting to keep it straight. In the meantime you are trying not to blink before you slam the now 7200rpm redline.
Shifting to second give an equally amazing surge as you're still fighting to keep it pointed in the same direction. Carrying yourself to third the powerband keeps pulling and pulling - then forth... I'm used to shifting at 110 - but 7200 kept me going! Ripping to 5th the car CONTINUED to surge! Nearing 130 I figured it was WELL time to let off. There was ZERO loss in power. Rest assured had I kept going I would have quickly banged off the speed limiter. Which makes me ask... Mike do you still have a speed limiter?
... from 4000-7200 the car is an absolute rocket. Being very experienced with Hondas, and the rush of ripping through high RPMs, I could EASILY describe this as the same feeling.
HUGE HATS OFF TO MIKE! A car well done... Once we pull those "Corking" NISMO headers off, we can get your car to regain some lost torque, and pull even HIGHER upper RPM numbers! Guaranteed you'll easily slide past the 300rwhp marker!

Mike,
Are you still running altered compression. The reason I ask is, if you are running stock compression, than I should just get the same ecu setup that you did for my install, also , did they remove the speed limiter. Thanks and sounds exactly like what I had in mind...

Put your NISMO headers up in the classifieds for what you were talking about last night, see if you get any bites.
If so, let them know they are theirs as soon as the new ones are installed!!!

I never knew a Honda to lose traction when it switched over.
I'm dead serious, when Mike's car hits 3500-4000 rpm in 1st - even though you had traction before... you won't any longer.

They did remove the "speed limiter"! My compression is a little different from stock but not enough to make that much of a difference. I bought 11.5's and had them shaved to 10.5 (stock is 10.3 of course). My A/F is still not perfect between 3000 & 4200 (mid to low 14's) but it's workable. I plan on sending back the ecu "1 more time" to see if Tadashi can get it a little closer! I plan on finishing the n20 install tomorrow and will just add additional fuel to handle the above range when spraying! The truth is that I'm really never at that range when I'm at the strip but it would sure help in keeping me from being "gun shy"!
