Why are you shifting into first when your deceling for a stop sign? Breaks dont work? Thats just asking for trouble. But just give the gas a little bump while clutch is in and pressure is on shift lever into first gear; a few RPM's will help if its your sincs. Still shouldn't be shifting into first though.

updates.. bought a new cd0-09 trans to hopefully solve the problem.. and if thats not it, then this is:

the shifter must be adjusted when reinstalled due to changes in part locations from reinstallation of everything.. needs to be adjusted in a specific way..starting in 6th gear, moving back aligning and tightening as you go.. i dont have the thread link.. and it appears alot of techs are not aware of this need.

Search shifter plate adjustment on google. youll find it fast.

good luck.

Great... this thread is making me nervous about doing my clutch/flywheel install next weekend. I have read the install DIY here many times and I have been studying the service manual. Now I am having reservations.

I'll be installing the Exedy OEM clutch and ACT Streetlite flywheel. I'm mechanically inclined so I shouldn't have any issues if I mark the locations of everything before I start.

well I think I can add myself to this list. JWT clutch and lightweight flywheel installed within the last week, started having problems getting into gear as well. Still pretty prevalent now, had the clutch line bled several times and pedal adjusted by mech and by myself as well. Should have plenty of time this weekend to play around with the pedal adjustment a ton and see if that helps.

I'm actually starting my install tomorrow since it's supposed to be warm for 2 days.

Some bad info in here

A clutch, if set up properly, should gain clamp load for the first 50% of clutch wear, After that it will slowly lose clamp load as the disk wears the rest of its life out.

A diaphragm style clutch will gain pedal effort as it wears. If you start the clutch at maximum clamp load you would never get full life out of the disk.

Maximum clamp load can only be achieved in one spot of the diaphragm or "belleville" spring, go either way in or out and clamp load falls off.
