Default engine swap

I blew up my 3 350 and i need to put a new engine back in. I do not want the stock weak vq engine in there so i was looking around to see what to put in but i cannot find any imformation. I would like to know if the HRs will mount up and also if any jdm engines will fit and what kind of modfications are needed for either.

There are a handful of places that have rebuilt VQ motors... Stage 1 - 4... do some searching, I am too lazy.

HR will fit, but you will need to change to the 07-08 hood , not worth it for 15hp IMO

There's been several posts by somebody associated with a race team that successfully put a HR motor in a DE car. It was not trivial - there's a whole lot more than just swapping blocks, sensors, computers, harnesses, etc.

- I looked into this briefly and I believe the trans mounts were an issue as well. HR into a DE shell is not easy.

I agree, not worth the time or cost IMO. I even considered at one time swapping the vq37 in my Z, Again, cost vs gains suck. If you got 4k theres not much you can do unless your gunna throw dough ontop of that 4 k. Midas well pick up a mild build long block DE. besides, HR parts are expensive and hard to come by. They dont even use the same radiator as a DE ffs. Plus you have to use a HR tranny and all that jive. 4k budget, Buy a built long block and boost it later..
