Default Good price for flywheel install

What's a good price to install a lightened flywheel? a clutch? and both?

Thanks,
Chris.

Thanks,

I am in the process of trying to determine that myself. I can tell you that your Nissan dealer thinks it's a 6 hour job and wants over $80/hour. I have read and talked to a few people that had it done at Nissan dealerships while they waited and reported it was a 3 hour job at most. Why it's on the books at 6 hours is beyond me, except just another way for Nissan to jack up the price. I have been quotes three price from three Nissan dealers in my area: $462, $480, and $525 :-(

A local mechanic that I have used for over 20 years says it should be under $400 to do either or both, since the labor is the same. He charges $75/hr and will only charge me for the actual time it takes him, but under no circumstance more then $400. Figuring he has never done a Z so it may take him a little longer - 4 hours @ $75 =$300. Another import shop quoted me a flat $300 to do the job, but they are not know for their mechanical work.

Since I think this is going to be something I need to know how to do; I plan on trying different clutch/flywheel combos; and I have replaced both in corvettes before.
I have ordered a 350Z service manual and am going to try to do it myself. I will let you know how it goes once the JWT flywheel/clutch combo comes in.

Update ..... I talked the $525 dealer into doing it for $425 today. Doubt I will use him, but it is good to know you can still deal in the good ol USA

I know someone who will be willing to do it for a meal, well he would prefer a bottle of Jack. His name is James and he hangs out at the corner of Wilshire and Westwood Blvd.

Not sure about his previous installs but he says he can do anything and is willing to try anything. I say you give him a shot.

He once fixed a sprinkler head on my lawn
