That's what I was thinking, but do you know if anyone makes one that is better built? My transmission sounds like it has rocks in it and not looking forward to hearing the same a few thousand miles after I change the clutch.

I've read a million posts here and the answer to your question has been stated many times that the stock one is more than sufficient.

Just make sure you have a good match with the clutch and new, light flywheel and be ready for the added noise.

We all look forward to the rest of your contributions. You sound like you were just released from prison. I hope your soreness goes away quickly.

Thanks, Chuck.

I'm thinking about an Exedy clutch kit and not sure if I wanna get the stock fly resurfaced or go lightweight.

My JWT kit came with one... I'd say if the kit includes one use it, if not use a Nissan one. And the noise isn't the pilot bushing it's the gears themselves. Try a slightly heavier oil and don't stray from the stock dual mass if you don't want it louder. After using a single mass I eventually went back to stock dual mass.

the rattling you're hearing isn't your pilot bushing, it's your throw out bearing, and you're options are stock, or stock.

O so stock is a brass bearing? The Nismo changes to a roller style?

I have noises whether the clutch is pressed or not pressed. The noise does change when it's engaged or released.

And your also saying stick with the OEM throwout too?

the pilot bushing is not going to make the car exhibit noise beyond a whine or whirring sound (as it drys, or has score marks on it, it sorta sounds like a worn skateboard wheel bearing). Rattling noises are all throw out bearing related, or indicative of deeper issues in the transmission itself, or if the car was purchased used, a sign that you may not have a stock flywheel in the car

I wont say my way is more right or less right than anyone else, but I use nothing but a stock pilot bushing on my car, and have never had any need or desire to use anything else. My throw out bearing is not a stock 350Z one, but it is a stock Nissan part from an older model (due to the clutch I use, which requires use of a different bearing and different length sleeve vs stock). There is a roller bearing design for those that want it, we offer it too.

Most of the clutch kits on the market include a throwout bearing and pilot bushing - you can use a different pilot if you want, totally up to you in terms of benefit/cost. There is no upgraded throw out bearing. Both are very simple parts and sorta either work, or don't work
