OK WTH,

So am I wasting my time pulling the tranny and looking at the flywheel or what? Major jerking 1-2 and T/O bearing noise. I know I'm new to these cars but WTH. 6Puck clutch installed 3 years ago. Dad and me can't believe the 1-2 shift is supposed to be that jerky. What is the deal 350Z guys??I dont want to pull that tranny, if the problem is Fulcrum or adjustment of clutch.

Yo Northern for us testers, if this isn't the finalized version are you going to offer us the opportunity to swap out this testing version for the production version?

Default Problem solved

Northern,

I did the fix put up by Ian and all problems are gone. Clutch 1-2 feel great. Right off the floor engagement and wow what a difference. I realize alot of people on this forum may need a kit but for those of you with some mecahnical abilities, check out this thread.

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-driv...h-pedal-3.html

Only problem I had was rewelded the tab too high. 15/16 " from tube to center bolt hole had good over-center force. This took about 4 hour versus pulling the tranny and possibly changing a clutch.

Thanks again Ian.

I've had the final units installed in my car since friday and have had a huge silly grin on my face ever since. I've decided I personally enjoy the fulcrum set to about the middle of the available adjustment range. It still has a very sporty feel to it, the friction point is about 3/4" off the floor, fully engaged by just below the brake pedal and the upper stop setup to keep the pedal dead level with the brake at rest. It just plain feels awesome. Launches are easier and takes the hard edge off the engagement on all the shifts making it a breeze to drive fast and smooth while keeping up in traffic.

With the adjustment set all the way soft it feels a lot like driving my fatherinlaws new Volkswagen Rabbit, you can roll off the clutch in stop and go traffic without even touching the gas and shifting through the gears is automatic smooth when rolling with traffic. If I tried that before it wouldn't be pretty and probably end in a stall or severe shudder.

That is great news. I am very excited about testing this item with my os giken twin plate clutch and my new built motor :>

I received mine on Friday. Had a really busy weekend, so I haven't been able to install it yet. Maybe this weekend. I have some things to fix on the wife's car before I can play with mine...

Looks straightforward to install, other than the cramped working space. I'll post up my experiences with it when I am able to get to it.

mine is at my house in indiana. I'll be getting it this weekend.

I have a twin disk OS giken so we will see how good this makes a horrible clutch feel. I hope a lot better. The shop last week could barely get my car on the dyno because the clutch is so nasty.

I had a chance to work on it last night. Installation was a breeze until putting the old rod to the new bracket. It took me bout 2 hours total but that is w breaks and stuff. After that was done, I drove around the block. All I can say is wow, this thing really changed the way the clutch feels. Before, I my clutch engaged at 1.5" off the top. Now, it noticeably engages lower than that, at like 1/2 or slightly less. Also, I could never ROLL without giving a gas b/c car would shutter so badly. Now I can roll w/o giving any gas and this makes it more drivable at traffic. I tried rolling on hill and it worked without a gas so that was cool.
One thing that I didn't get used to is the softness of the pedal or clutch (whichever you call it). I actually like my pedal to feel stiff b/c i'm used to that. I didn't have enuff time testing and playing with it cus it was lil late, but I will play with the engagement point a lil bit and this will be all set!
BTW, great job NorthernG

hyuk28719 Your very welcome.

I'm pleased to hear you had a positive experiance with the mod. I totally agree as well, getting the clutch rod back into the new fork is the biggest pita of the job but its a necessary evil of the adjustable fulcrum design.
