Mods to Add More Torque?

Hey everyone,
Got a quick question.
How to get more torque??
Does torque increase in relation to horsepower? Or are there specific modifications that focus more on torque.
What I mean by torque is that feeling of being pushed back into the seat you get when you push down hard on the pedal, maybe I have the terminology all wrong?
Anyway could I make that sensation come about in lower RPMs? (Better Off-the-Line power?)
Let me know!

Yeah the Low end is what I was looking for. I dont want anyone to start arguing cuz I realize now that this was kind of a dumb question cuz I phrased it wrong. No nos for me at 120k miles. Seems unsafe. Has anyone made a write up for the LS swap yet? They seem to be a dime a dozen now. I am very very interested, but itd mean i have o save for a while. On the whole, if I put in most of the wrench time, I figured it to be around 8k with ls1, trans, sikky kit, and extras. Sound about right? LS swap is definitely not an outrageous answer, so all those who said it, I am interested if you have any more wisdom to share

You'll be very hard pressed to do an LS1 for 8k. I'd say figure 10-13k if you are keeping the motor close to stock and doing most of the work yourself. 12-15k if you're doing some mild performance items as part of your build. 15-20k if you're having a shop do it for you. Costs will vary from area to area and depend on whether you go with old, high mileage parts, newer parts, or crate engine & built tranny, etc. But the devil is in the details. All of the little things add up on that swap. I'm putting together my build plan and I'm going with the less expensive, but heavier LQ9 iron bottom end - and I'll be very surprised if I can get my budget under 11k.
