Default problem with quaife lsd install

Ok here is my deal. I got an 05 base 350z 6mt. So i decided to scoop up a new quaife lsd for my ride. The rear end has a 3.9fd installed, other than that everything back there is stock. So i received my quaife QDF11L in the mail. I dropped the lsd and tore it apart with ease and then i ran into the BIG problem.. The bolt holes on the diff are to small for the bolt to go through the holes and screw into the ring gear. Yes the bolt holes on the diff are to small. Has anyone seen this before? Any help or info is greatly appreciated!!

yeah QDF11L is correct part number for open diff 350z. That is odd. I'd call quaife directly and tell them your problem

there was a batch last year (I think?)that shipped from Quaife with the incorrect ring gear holes. Solution is easy, any machine shop can redrill/tap it. Very easy to tell before install, just thread a ring gear bolt in advance of taking things apart

does quaife replace these or still warranty them if you drill out the holes?

quaife should fix the holes for you and maintain the warranty. Their screw up should not be your problem.

cux350z: ya you would think they would fix this issue! but they are not. They are telling me that i have, "some kind of variation we have never seen before." they also offer to custom build a diff for me with the right size bolt holes but it,"however this would be a one off special and quite expensive to produce." this is pissing me off! yes i can go to a machine shop and get this fixed i just feel like quaife should be helping me out, not denying that their product has something wrong w/ it!

that sounds like a load of BS. I would try calling quaife again and maybe talk to a different person see what they says.

Zack, could you do me a favor and measure the diameter of the holes in your quaife? I want to compare them with mine. I will get you a measurement of mine when I get home from work.

Quaife has a very basic dimensional drawing on their website. I think if I am reading it correctly the hole diamter is .522".

Quaife has had issues in the past with intermittent "dimension mistakes"

I had one of them, just not the same problem you have

They ended up replacing mine free of charge with rush shipping.

my quaife has the same issue. bolt holes too small. I looked on the website for a phone number but they are all overseas numbers. Anyone got a toll-free or US number for quaife?

When I was doing mine, the US distributor was a company called Motorvicity. I believe they are still the sole distributor in the USA unless someone else is doing it. The only Quaife contact number I had was the UK office itself.

Contact them at their US distributor here: http://quaifelsd.com/Default.aspx
Select the contact tab and send them an email.

Default Same issues!

Im having the same issues! I have a '03 Manual 350z Base Model. I ordered a Quaife LSD from Vivid Racing and the ring gear size is different from the LSD. First they said that the LSD is measuring correctly and NOT machined wrong, even though it doesn't fit snug in there when a open diff fits no problem. They said that I should try various heating/cooling techniques or try getting a different ring gear! I feel like im being held hostage by this company and they are making no attempts to help me. I hope I can work this out with them. Im not saying Vivid Racing is responsible but they won't process a refund because Quaife is feeding them all this so they don't have to refund the part. AHHHH!!
