Default Can the valve covers be powder coated?

Does anyone know if the valve covers can be powder coated?

If you happen to have your valve covers done, can you please supply the companies name?

Or would you guys happen to know at what temperature they baked the covers at?

Problem ususally with baking plastic covers is melting the baffles inside of them. I know we've had that issue in the Cobalt world with the aluminum covers, they coat just fine but it melts the PCV baffling and sometimes restricts the flow.

I remember someone saying they had their valve covers powder coated wrinkle red in 3 stage.
I think it may have been the owner of this engine that said that

well i am in MD so no help..

but powdercoating is very straight forward you can probably do it yourself and save a crap load of money.

coating is at regular temp. you have to bake the item after its been coated in a oven.

eastwood makes a great started kit.

It can be done, I've had mine done and it was MUCH better than the painted set I had.

My guy baked at a slightly lower temp, but the coater should have their own process. If they know enough to know how to get the plastic covers to hold a charge so the powder sticks, they should be able to know what temp to bake at.

We do our own powdercoating.
But id rather try to gather information prior to experimenting with covers

Differentt plastics can take different amounts of heat prior to deforming

Some plastics need to be degassed prior to coating

Finally got around to powder coating a valve cover.
Luckily/unluckily we had a broken valve cover in the shop so we ordered up some wrinkle red powder and shot the cover today.

Came out great! I will def be coating my covers in this wrinkle red, and my partner will be doing wrinkle "Laguna Seca" Blue....should be SICK!

We'll be doing a couple tweeks to the masking process to clean the lines up a bit, these covers were done quickly as an experiment.. the final ones will have much cleaner lines. We'll also be offering the wrinkle black you see on the plenum in the pics above
