So would this explain why some people say their Z doesn't quite make it to 60 in 2nd gear. Do they have the base? And does this account for their good 1/4 mile times too? It seems like the base models were getting better times than the other trims.

Has anyone put a new aftermarket tranny in their Z? One with different ratios

my 4th tops out around 110 now. i'm just worried i'd hit it too soon with the 3.9 in the 1/4 mile.

6600/3.53 = 1869.69
6600/3.90 = 1692.30

1692.30 * 110 = 186153

186153 / 1869.69 =

99.56 MPH in fourth at 6600 RPMs.

You'll need a TS 7100 RPM flash. That gives:

7100/3.53 = 2011.33
7100/3.90 = 1820.51

1820.51 * 118 (new MPH at 7100 in fourth) = 214820.18

214820.18 / 2011.33 =

106.8 MPH in fourth with TS flash and EVO gears.

Yea about not being able to hit 60 in second gear in the Z, i seem to have no problem doing so. I dont go on the tracks, but i get on the Z every chance i get, i mean i only have a CAI on my car, and in second ive pushed 64 mph at about 6400rpm, so i dont get why others cant do the same, but i know for a fact that i do it all the time, am i one of those lucky dudes who got one of the so called "FASTER Z's", or can others just not drive their cars. Maybe its cuz they leave the VDC on, cuz i noticed that if u do it trys to control the car but with it off, its u in control. I dunno, but ima try to get a video of it to prove that im not lyin, just gonna take some cash money to get the camera ha ha.

please do video it. i haven't checked but if thebigshow is correct and he goes exactly 110 in fourth at 6600 RPMs you can only go 58.336 MPH at 6400 RPMs in 2nd. having a faster car doesn't mean anything. you have the same gearing. more HP doesn't change the gearing of your car. you will always run the same MPH at the same RPM unless you change your gearing.

I read over your other post really fast, but I don't think you counted for tire expansion. You can get a couple more MPH with it. I once did tire expansion calculations for an RC and the car could, on paper, go 7 or so MPG faster when you counted for tire expansion.

You really think that a low profile radial tire like the Z has will expand enough to affect MPH? Damn, I thought that was limited to low pressure slicks on drag cars. We account for it on the race cars but I can't see it on the Z tires. Really? Can you cite anything? And do you think that with the given tires at a speed as low as 60 or even 100 tire expansion is anything but marginal?

Umm, well, if you talking about still low profile tires then probably no. Then rubber used on RC tires is hella soft. It's so soft that it will break up at 60+ MPH. So, I guess no then.
