This board is goign to show a bias on DD and mods because most people on here are huge enthusiasts of the car, and wanna optomize the performance they get, thus making them more interested in modding the car.

Yes, I drive it. Maybe three days a week to work. If it breaks, I have other wheels (truck).
The whole point of taking this car to another level, and voiding just a few warranties along the way in the process, is to drive and enjoy it.
If you need to have it totally reliable, you simply need to temper some of the changes you might make.
But frankly speaking, unless you tweak or stress the car to mechanical limits, and if you do your mods carefully and intelligently, the impact on its reliability should be very negligible. You are much more likely to affect reliability with your driving style and skill than you are with well considered and implemented mods. If you boost it, it can still be reliable. If you boost it 9lbs, then I think you are cruisin for a bruisin. Moderation in all things, including mods, and you should have lots of fun and few headaches.

The Z is my daily driver and the only mod I have right now is a CAI for reliabilty purposes.

Why change 4 wheeled perfection captured by the finest engineering west of Hawaii and east of Shanghai ?

I know, because we can and a little bit of Binford resides in all of us ;-)

no offense, but a CAI can possibly be one of the most dangerous mods due to hydrolock! But it does conserve gas mileage and I have one too

Depends where the intake is and how it's designed.

It's just about impossible for the K&N to hydrolock.

You are right about the hydrolock issue, that's why I installed an air bypass valve a few weeks after installing the CAI. The air bypass valve has been proven to work; and even though I still avoid large gatherings of water, it makes feel a lot better knowing the bypass valve is on there in case of an emergency.

The Z is what I drive for Cruisin on the week-ends and the occasional week day.

I am modding the car little by little to create a my own personal
street race car.
