200+ MPH 350Z build thread

Not really, it was an amazing car(never drove it, but got to go for a few on track rida alongs) He is just like that, he's had a 997TT, sold it, a F360, sold that, even a C63 AMG, sold that too. Cars just arent importaint to people like that.
The only down side to the GTR is its smarter than I am, and you cant fool it, ask me how I know!

Keep an eye on that stock diff carrier bushing. They break quite easily (even at stock power level), and you'll end up with excessive movement which could take out the axles and/or diff cover. At least fab up a brace like this:
You can see the tear even in the pic above . A brace + solid bushings IMO is almost mandatory on a build like this; even the brace is going to take a beating with the OEM bushings in there. Aside from that, everything is on-point! Keep up the good work.

I've heard it many times from instructors at the HPDE's I attend. However it isn't stopping me from acquiring a 2010 very soon. OP props to this build. I can't wait to see it finished!!

Thank you very very much, thats what I wanted to do, but I was out voted. Is there anyway you could send that pic to dragraceman21@yahoo.com, i want to forward that to my boss and see if we dont want to re-think that, before something breaks!

But using solid mounts along with the brace should prevent the amount of force required to break it.
Keep in mind where your weak point is. Would you rather have the 'fuse' in your system be that one bolt holding the diff in place (possible taking out the whole rear end), or instead just a broken axle? there might not be a huge torsional load, but there are huge downward forces on that rear bolt. I'd make that sucker as solid as you can.

Thanks again, have already brought it too the attention of the powers that be and we are definately reconsidering this, You prevented a possible disaster in this car, that's why these forums are so great, looks like I picked the right one to sign up for!
Mad Props to you!!!!!!

God, this thread makes me just
Another +1 for the solid diff and subframe bushings (at least poly), not so much on the brace.

Also, it looks like he already did solid subframe mounts.

^ I didn't think the poly bushings would be so brittle. Either way, solid bushings are a must on this car, imho. Braces won't do jack with that much power twisting at the weaksauce rubber/filled bushing.

Not brittle... just not held in by anything. It worked its way out just enough to start getting torn apart and eventually ejected.

For some reason, I read "cracked" instead of "backed."

Pretty much all of those are possiblities, with the exception of SCCA. Primarily it's being built for NASA super unlimited and some time attack. I guess we will have to see how fast the car is and go from there. The owner is a very experinced driver including spec Miata, GT3 and formula continental, so he shouldnt have a problem testing the cars limits.
