Default Xede + Cams Dyno

I recently got a tuning session done with vishnu performance. My Z has cams, borla TD, pop-charger and grounding kit. Before the timing advance on the cams, I pulled 252 rwhp on a dynojet. On vishnu's dyno dynamics dynometer my z, with the timing advance, pulled 232 rwhp, the exact same rwhp a 2002 NSX pulls on that dyno. After the install of the xede my car pulled 238 rwhp, and gained roughly 10 pounds of torque throughout the entire power band. Vishnu agrees that it is very hard to get power out of this car. For reference an e46 m3 puts done 246 rwhp on their dyno, and a z06 puts done about 300 rwhp. The green line represents a 350z with a nismo intake only. The red is my car without the xede. And the blue is with the xede of course.

Before everyone gets bent out of shape on the numbers. Dyno Dynamics dynomometers always read low HP numbers.

The torque increase is impressive for just a ECU mod. Congratulations!

Now the big question for me is, when is Vishnu gonna make an ECU available for Supercharged cars?

Vishnu is extremely interested in any forced induction Z's. They feel that they could do a lot more if the car was turbo/supercharged.

Too bad they're not in Arizona. I'd be a test car.

I don't understand something, if that is the same (roughly) as an NSX and only 10-15 HP less than a M3, why does an M3 spank us so bad???? (remember they are MUCH heavier too)

The green line, is a stock 350z on that dyno. It makes roughly 200 rwhp. I am close to 40 whp above a stock Z. I doubt an M3 would be spanking me badly, but it might still spank me. Their engines can hold a decent amount of torque up to 7900 rpm.

Because they put 245whp, whearas 350Zs only put down around 200whp

Shiv, a bit off topic, but do you know how Dyno Dynamics numbers compare to a Mustang Dyno?

It's all in the gears and the ability to wind the engine up!

BMW M3:

Trans Gears 4.23/2.53/1.67/1.23/1.00/0.83
Final Drive Ratio 3.64

Nissan 350Z 6MT

287HP/274TQ Redline 6600-6700
Trans Gears 3.79/2.32/1.62/1.27/1.00/0.79
Final Drive Ratio 3.53

Nissan 350Z 5AT Redline 6600-6700
Trans Gears 3.54/2.26/1.47/1.00/0.83
Final Drive Ratio 3.36

go here for shiv's "Great Dyno Equalizer"

287HP,

Glad to see work being done with Shiv. I was kind of hoping he would be able to find more power. Oh well, I am still very interested to see the Xede strapped in a FI Z.

Thanks for the post.

So am I

BTW, don't put too much faith into the dyno equalizer-- especially where Dynpack and Mustang Dynos are concerned. They both tend to be all over the place, depending on how the dyno shop calibrates them. The Dynapack, in particular, has a number of software revisions to make them read on par (if not a little higher than) Dynojets. The only thing reasonably consistent is how Dyno Dynamics Dynos compare with Dynojets as neither of them have had any significant calibration changes as long as I can remember.

Cheers,
shiv
