Default Vq Shortblock cross-compatible?

Long story short.
I have a revup (in my 06 z33) that needs a new block.
I have an HR block.

I don't have the revup disassembled to compare the 2.

Can i place the HR block in place of my revup block?
(using the revup heads, etc)

If not, can someone point me to a site where i can find just the block for a good price. I am asking because the cost of a motor is not financially plausible at the moment.

may be possible since head gaskets are interchangeable with machining

Pretty sure that your question is exactly what this guy did. HR block with DE heads and timing.

From that same article by a professional engine builder with a machinist on hand:

"It wasn't quite a simple swap to get to work with an HR block, sprockets, covers, etc. It was almost like an LS/VTEC swap since the variable cam oiling scheme was much improved on the HR engines."

He also comments on having things machined and modified. If you are taking it to a machinist expect to pay a good amount for custom work and hope that he understand exactly what you want done because I'm sure he won't just know how to modify the heads for a custom job. You will have to know exactly what to do and tell them.

Seems more simple to sell the HR block and buy a DE block. I have sold a few extra DE blocks for 300$ so it's not like they are expensive. Way cheaper than any machining to get parts to fit.

well actually still no one has successfully did an HR bottom end with DE/REV-UP heads, the ARK Team America GTR32 still has not ran yet... and the only reason why this avenue was done is because cosworth does not make parts for the HR, and Cosworth CNC ported heads were used, also the DE/Rev-up valves are bigger than HRs.
