Has anyone here done an rb26 build? Mounting kits are cheap.. engines are cheap.. turbo upgrades are cheap.. From the looks of it you can get the same power as an ls2 swap for about half the price.

Anyone find this build worth it? Opinions please lol

I still don't understand how people think swapping a different motor would be cheap. So many parts need to be changed along with the motor.

Building the VQ is much more cost effective and easier.

Please search the forum for engine swaps. You'll see a few by just scrolling down the same page you started this thread on. Swaps are not cheap unless you literally do everything yourself and get crack head prices or buy the cheapest stuff they offer.

I asked for opinions on the swap, I've done my research already. You can't get someone's opinion from reading their 1+ year old thread. I swear it's like people just stopped using their comprehensive skills lol
I am going to be doing all the labor myself and I have nothing but time so I'll be waiting for those crack head prices
If I go this route, my budget will be no more than $10,000
If I end up going towards an ls2 the budget will be around $15,000

If you have a budget like this why the hell have you been installing cheap replica parts on your Z?

There's a thread asking about swaps that is maybe a few days old. There are plenty of opinions in there. There is no reason we have to answer the same question over and over. I'm sorry if you don't like my answer.

Is it worth doing a swap? It was for me considering I'm doing one my self. Is it for everyone? Definitely not.

Can it be done right on a budget, doubt it. Depends how big you want to go. But why swap if you're not trying to do something big or have it done for a purpose. Like the LS, it is probably great for drifting. Just my guess.

Ls swap is much more than 15k I did nearly all the work to mine other than the tubing and I spent 15 k made the harness myself everything myself swapping is great if it has a purpose if you are just trying to do something just for s$%&$ and giggles its not worth it because you will never ever get your money out of it

if its so great then then do it and throw a 6766 turbo on there then meet me after i leave island and we can go on a gt style course and you will see why its not common.

then you will get to enjoy the actual price of doing it and be sad about the money you spent for the performance it has.

I donno what you are hearing but RB's are expensive to mod for big power. As everyone else said it is cheaper to build the VQ.

Put 10k in the vq.

used Greddy tt or BP kit
clutch+rjm pedal
fuel
osiris
Stock block will spank a comparably costing rb26 swap (a bpu setup)

If you did your research then why is your first question "has anyone done it"? Everyone's opinion plus the cost is in the thread that is still on this first page and it shows that it is far from cheap. No possible way to do it for under 10k unless you are living in fantasy land.

And yes, you are right about people not using their comprehension skills. You are a prime example. You know why that thread is a year old? BECAUSE THAT SWAP ISN'T EASY TO DO AND IT TAKES THAT LONG. wow....
