It's time to have my clutch replaced..
My clutch is starting to slip pretty bad, so it's time to get it replaced.
I have a couple questions.
First off, I plan on having it done at the dealership. Just a direct replacement. Good idea or not?
Price range? (Anyone that's had it replaced at a Nissan dealer)
Alternative - by a clutch/lightweight flywheel and have it installed? I am not going FI.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks for any help

how many miles on your car?
I'd stick with oem, oem is more then sufficient for full bolt on use.
when you start adding lightweight flywheels/messing with the system chances are you will have a chattery system that you won't enjoy as much as oem.

don't go oem if you plan on doing any mods. If you just want to keep it stock stay oem and maybe get a different flywheel. And don't go to a dealer have a good shop install it. Most shop like us can even order one for you with a good deal
JWT clutch+flywheel combo and stainless steel line. Take it to smaller/private shop. Not only better than OEM but I'll bet you save almost a grand vs the dealer.

Typical 'good' install prices are $350-$500 in my experience.

Stock (dealership) flywheel is like $800-1000 by itself.I wouldnt go to a dealer most def...
OP , go to youtube and there are some 350z vids showing how the lightweight flywheel sounds like JWT and ACT flywheels. You will hear chatter versus an OEM DMF but if you have the bread for $1000 DMF then go that route.
I needed to replace mine and went with Zspeed and the South Bend clutch. You will need to to get a HD replacement master and slave if you have the internal slave (CSC) so dont forgot that adds another $500 in parts.(Not sure what tranny the 2006 models used)
If you have the bread stay OEM , if you dont mind more chatter and quicker revs, then go LW flywheels.Hopefully, I have my car back in a couple more days....BTW its about $550-600 in labor.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. After reading everything I decided I'm going to go with the JWT clutch/flywheel combo and have a shop install it.
I DO planning on doing full bolt ons; just not FI.

The JWT flywheel isn't that noisy compared to stock. I don't even notice mine, even idling in neutral.
The competition lightweight aluminum flywheel I had before it, that was loud in every sense of the word...
