Default 350Z Alternators!

Quick question.....My Alternator needs changing on my Z. Its Supercharged so warranty is out of the question. The car needs more amps. Anyone know what the amp rate is on our alternators? And what aftermarket company makes an alternator for our cars?
Or can it be swapped out for a g35/maxima alternator if they put out more amperage than ours?

Thank You

NiLe C.

your SC has nothing to do with the alternator. So I would try to get it covered by the dealer

Doesn't sound like his is blown, and needs it repaired.

Sounds like he needs a larger one.

... Sorry I can't be of any other help here.

Big show system I presume?

Type: A3tg0191
Manufacturer: Mitsubishi
Nominal Rating: 12V - 110A

Couldn't tell you where to find a high amp replacement though.

jeez..if stock is a 110 amp already,t hst prety sizable to start with..what excactly are you doing with this car?

Noone makes an aftermarket one for the car..I doubt youll ever see one either. But look locally for alternator rebuild shops...the better ones can usually wind you one that will put out more amps, thogh the cost tends to be in the $300-$500 range

2 10w7s 3 amps/supercharger/new hid kit + 40,000 miles...... i have a monster cap but you hear the alternator squeal at start up and it tends to get worse when you use your headlights at night.... basially the alternator isnt recharguing the battery fast enough...voltage meter drops to 12 then slowly goes up to 14 but squeals while going back up

See what other alternators are produced by Mitsubishi. I've seen up to 240 amp alternators but they are for trucks.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but alternators don't "squeal" ... Loose belts do. And if the belt it loose, or bad ... it wouldn't spin the pulley 100% ... thus not operating 100% output. You might just look into changing the belt, and re-tensioning it.

I just changed an alternator in a Toyota, that lasted 186,000 miles. I don't think yours could be bad at 40k.

Then again, I could be wrong... Another option would be take it to a local battery or alternator shop, and re-wind it for higher output. Usually less $$ than shelling out to Ohio Generator for a good HIGH OUTPUT alternator.

That's exactly what I was thinking just before I read your post. It really seems like a loose belt if it is squealing. If the belt is tight, you may have oil or grease on the belt.

I am running a 1200.1 at 1 ohm and a 600 watt Alpine at 4 ohms with TV/DVD/ 2 DVC L7's 1800w total rms and I only have 2 Farads, look elsewhere to solve your problem like a 15 Farad PG Power Core or something. Only 600 bucks and you will never need more power.

WELL, I have the base system, complete with one loose mid range, and even when I crank that baby up, I have no problems.

I know somebody with an older M3 that bought a aftermarket high output alternator. He said it's lighter, has more output and allows 5 more whp than stock. I'll try to find more info on it tonight. Maybe that company has 350z plans.

I know of a company called Spyder, that makes custom alternators for cars, if u go thru like tweeter audio, they can have one built for you, but they run upwards of $700, they can have one create up to about 240amps, but i would try to get a new alternator from the dealer bud cuz i got about the same system as you, and i have never had a problm before, and if the SC has nothing to do with the alternator, a monster 5 farad cap should do you justice. It was like $315. U said u got a new HID kit, did u have the base model or did u just upgrade your hids, cuz i was under the impression that with the HID kit, you barely lost any power to the lights because they use such low power out of the car. Hope some of this helps ya out man.
