Unhappy Tranny swap.. Please look.

Hello My350Z, I have a huge question, and I tried doing my research but it is just something no one does. To make a long story short, I have a nerve condition that required me to get surgery for my feet and ankles. I cannot drive my 6MT anymore. Now I know the easy way would be to just sell my car and buy a 5AT, but that is not an option for me. I really enjoy my own Z that I bought rebuilt... And have put my blood sweat and tears into. I don't want to strip all the mods I've done to it and put them on the other Z. I much rather keep mine.

The TL;DR version:

What I am getting at is... Does anyone know how I'd go about doing a 6MT to 5AT swap? Could I keep the 6MT rear end and just buy the tranny, torque converter, gauges, and shifter assy? Am I missing any other parts I need? Please help me out here... Thanks.

Might be easier to go TH400 depending on ur state laws. I know for NJ if ur car throws a trans code (OBD2 bs) it won't pass. To make a 6mt car a auto i know you need some wiring, auto ecu and maybe auto gauge cluster. Short answer yeah sell your car and get a new car. Will most likely bare more fruit in the end.

I don't know what I'm talking about, but if I had to spend the time, money, and effort to convert a MT to an AT, I'd look at what it would take to get a transmission with paddle shifters.

Best bet, find someone in your area with AT that wants to swap to MT. You will both have all the parts to do the swap. Or just trade cars

+1.. There's always people wanting to go from auto to manual, it seems.

BTW, adding paddle shifters can be done to any auto since they already have the "manual mode" anyway and it's no different from that. There are even kits that lets you do this, I believe.

Thanks guys. I will see if I can find someone to swap transmissions with me. I don't want to get rid of my Z. If anything I will buy a cheap beater for now until I regain strength.
