hi, i don't know much about cams so i have some questions about them.

--what exactly do cams do? why change the oem cams for aftermarket ones?
--where do they give you the power, down low or up top?
--what do the degrees have to do with them (ex. 268)?
--i also heard that you shouldn't open up an engine of a new car because you take away the pressure, or something like that..is that right?
