Hi, all. I got a Greddy TD05 18g twin turbo kit for a good deal. 1 of the turbo's had decent shaft play. I was about to ship it off for repair then a friend told me about having them upgraded to 20g's. The idea sounded rather intriguing. Then I started thinking about air space. If I go bigger CHRA, I know it won't be the same as a TD06 or whatnot, but I'll still be limited to the turbos housing size.

Has anyone done R&D on the converting TD05 18G's to 20G's? I'm accepting of the fact there may be more lag, but i'm just gauging my options.

 

I know it has been done but your best bet would be contact shops that offer that upgrade and see what they say. Try boost lab or g-pop shop.

But depending on your goals the 18gs have been proven to make a lot of power on the vqs with appropriate supportjng mods.

A few days ago, I got an APS Twin Fuel Pump assembly with all lines as well as a 1st Gen Haltech system. I still gotta get some L19's and a few other parts, but i'm 95% complete.

 

Alberto was making over 600 whp IIRC on the 18g. Check out his thread.

 

+1 to Gpop Shop. I had my 18gs rebuilt there this past spring and I think they did an excellent job. I will go back in the future.

I considered the 20g swap as well but couldnt find enough information to convince myself to do it.
