Weapon-R I-Throttle Controller
Hello Z collective,
Just wondering if anyone knows if this product is confirmed to work on the 07-08 HR? The product manual link is broken. When I emailed them I got a one line response - NISSAN 350Z VQ35DE Z33 656-112-103
http://www.weapon-r.com/index.php?ac...roduct&id=1991
Yet in the title of the product it says
2003-08 NISSAN 350Z I-THROTTLE CONTROLLER KIT which I'd assume would include the HR engine?
I'm double checking because the D1-spec controller doesn't work on the HR and it looks similar. Cheers.

weapon-r cannot even make a power steering tank that fits right...I wouldnt trust them with electronics.
Also the 03-06 is a single tb and the 07-08 are dual tb and the plugs are different.

Honest to god I don't see any validation in this
Anyway,
off to check out the Sprintbooster who claim to have an HR version

If they include plugs for both the DE and the HR then yes Cux350z's reply would be invalid. Since their links to the product manuals are dead and they won't reply to my question other than pasting VQ35DE Z33 656-112-103 I have to assume they are advertising 03-08 but the gizmo works only for the DE.

Sure.
This is my first e-throttle controlled car and I have to say - I don't like the response. All kinds of lag at low rpms. Serious lag when mashing the pedal at the track. I've had an ECU tune and even that didn't solve it.
Here's a thread with quite a bit of info when they first released it

I read the blurb here: http://www.sprintboosterusa.com/t-faq.aspx
It says the unit connects to the throttle pedal assembly, and the OEM connector connects to the unit.
According to Courtesy Nissan Parts, all models of the 350Z use the same accelerator pedal assembly, so the connectors would also be the same on the DE and HR versions.
Since you're still going to be using the OEM ECU to actually energize the throttle bodies, all the Sprintbooster is doing is tricking it into thinking you've mashed the accelerator pedal more than you actually did. That amount of "tricking" is adjustable to fit different conditions. I'd say any claimed increased performance could be duplicated by simply learning to mash the pedal faster.
The motor in the throttle body is probably going to be the limiting factor in how fast the engine responds to pedal movements. The only way to get that motor to respond faster is to increase the current delivered to it by the ECU. And, the engine can only respond so quickly, regardless of how much the TB is opened. All that has been carefully engineered by Nissan to work perform well and work reliably for a very long time.
So your $300 add-on is going to put more stress on your $600 throttle bodies, possibly leading to an early failure or other problems. It's also one more thing that can go wrong in a safety-critical control system, and who needs that?
If that seems like a good trade-off, go for it.
The photo for the Weapon-R I-Throttle Controller shows only a cable and some connectors with unconnected wires. What do you expect from a kit, though. For $200, it's not going to do much, and you're certainly still going to be using the OEM ECU to actually drive the throttle bodies, so the analysis above applies to it as well.

My validation post was regarding the part not cux post. Seems like a pointless mod. They have been around for quite some time with no hype or improved driving. Imagine stopped at a red light. Turns green you give 20% and it gives 50% and you take off. Don't see much point. Btw iv felt turbo lag. But not lag in my tb
it is a noob thread and trying to get power from snake oil... if you had a tune and you are having the issue still your tuner sucks. he needs to adjust the drive by wire within the ecu, if it was an uprev tune, he can do this
