Default 350z Jerking At 3RPMS Since Installing Intake

Hey, so I own a 2004 Nissan 350z and I bought an AEM long ram intake for it and installed myself. After driving one day my car randomly started jerking at like 3RPMS and it did this in the beginning gears like 1 to 3. Any ideas as to why this is happening? And it always seems to do it right after I get done washing my car, which is weird. Please help thanks!

Here's a video of it jerking:

The fact it is always happening after you finish washing your car would make me think it is water related. As in, water is getting in your intake a little bit make the car run weird.

Also, I couldn't hear sound on your video. But you didn't even rev it to 3000rpm.

It happens the most when I wash my car, and yeah the car wouldn't let me get to 3RPM's lol... it jerks at like 2 or 2.5.

Try putting something protective over your intake filter like a garbage bag or something when you wash it. Sounds like you are flirting with hydrolock.

That's the thing this is a long ram intake not a short one so it goes all the way to the bottom on the left side of my bumper. So I don't know how I'd put a bag over it every time I wash my car? Thanks for the response too I had no clue what hydrolock was until now.

Can't see the video, but I don't know how your car is even running that slow....

Mine idles at 800RPM... Get it down around 300-400RPM and it shakes and shudders but 2-3RPM? That's crazy.

Default pre-filter

You could always install a pre-filter on the air filter to protect it from water all the time. It keeps the water and larger road debris from getting into the filter.

So this stops happening the day after you wash your car? I'm guessing if you are getting your filter soaked then you're also probably getting water on the MAF once you start pulling some air in off idle. When the water hits the maf it's going to make your ECU think you a pulling a lot more air then you actually are so it will start adding a ton of fuel, which is probably causing the shaking.

If this is happening a day after you wash the car, your filter should be dry and the probably should no longer occure. If it is, then you have other issues.

Good luck.
