Default High cap. oil pan or oil cooler kit?

I'd imagine that the answer is both, but I would like to know what some of you think about cooling factors for like the Greddy high capacity oil pan, (holds extra 1 1/4 qts. of oil, plus is aluminum with fins; dissipates plenty of heat itself) OR an oil cooler kit (setrab)?

I would say the oil pan does little to nothing, just adds 1/2 quart of oil.

Thanks guys! One question since my car is DD and never tracked, but loves to play hard, would 19 row be ok or go to a 25, etc? At least those are a couple that I've looked at; some are 34 row for track. Climate here is desert and was 102 yesterday, hit's 115 in Summer.

Here is a nice kit from Z1; setrab, 25row, protective wrapped hoses, thermostatic, *keep oem size oil filter. (options at bottom of this link page):

Either is fine for a daily driver - oil has an optimal temperature so theoretically you can 'cool' your oil excessively but dont let that stop you from getting the 25row if you really want it.

Speaking from experience with owning several fi cars, extra oil capacity sometimes also means extra life insurance.

I have the Greddy winged/baffled oil pan on my HR as well as a 24 row Tru-Cool cooler and run a larger Titan oil filter. I'm also using the Mocal 180°F thermostat controlled sandwich plate.

My oil changes are right at 9 quarts of Castrol 0w30 EU Syntec, of which I change every 6 months( I average around 10k miles a year).

Is this excessive, likely, but I picked up the Greedy pan for $80 off ebay and figured while I'm into the oil system why not get baffled oil pan.

Thanks for the pics and info! It looks like you have a very nice setup.

Here is a pic of mine; has the Stillen heat exchanger up front, do you think there would be any problems as far as room to mount the oil cooler since the Stillen unit is basically in center of it all? The cooler cores I'm looking at would be about 13" long, 5.5" tall (19 row), 7.5" for 25 row), 1.5" thick.

If you want to cool, I think definitely get an oil cooler.

Get creative with the mounting, look to either side, can be off axis. Mount it the tall way maybe...may have to cut holes.

I was wondering if it's ok to mount sideways if needed or does it need to be horizontal? I'd like to be able to mount it with brackets screwed into bottom of bumper beam for a solid mount, drivers side, but would need to make sure lines would reach it ok. The above pic^ looks like I'd have room for a 25 row (13"x7.5").

Nope doesnt need to be horizontal you can mount it in any orientation you please.

Obviously you want to make sure the exchanger is adequately supported but that sounds like a good plan to me.

One orientation is not advisable, fittings pointed down. This can allow an air pocket to develop in the cooler which can short circuit the oil, thus reducing efficiency and possibly causing a large air bubble to go thru the oil passages (oil starvation to a bearing).

Agree there are implications when bleeding in that config, and you should choose your exchanger specs according to your needs. I wouldnt mount my fitting facing downwards if I can avoid it, but as long as you prime the system correctly and the cooler isnt way up high I dont think its a huge issue.

Thanks for the good info. guys! Yeah, I'd surely not mount upside down, but good to know about possible sideways mount or angled if necessary. I'll have bumper cover off in a week or so; getting new one installed and I could get some measurements for options in that particular area.
