Default throttle position relearn

I have a 2005 manual Trans 350z. Just wondering what the throttle relearn was. Tried googling it but kept getting altimas. Replaced the throttle body unit and now it revs around 1500 rpms for idle. If I give it gas it revs to 2500 but keeps revving 500 rpms after I full release the gas

Curious on why people need to do the relearns? I have simply unplugged my battery for a few hours and everything was fine.

Does it need a little extra calibration or something after the ECU is reset?

Mine runs much better with a relearn after the battery has been removed

Hmmm. That's good to know. I have never had idle or throttle release problems after letting the car sit without a battery for 8 months or so.

I have also done the resets a few times with no change, but that's not to say something didn't change. Maybe it's running factory specs initially, and doing the throttle resets calibrates it to the current conditions [throttle body being dirty, pcv valve volume, etc].

Will the relearn not work with an uprev tune installed? I've tried multiple times using a clock to time it and I finally gave up. I can't get the CEL to come on or blink.

I must be doing it wrong then. I've tried it about 7 times total on 2 different days with no luck. She runs fine so it's probably a waste of time anyways but I wanted to try it since I had the TB off for cleaning.

you coolant has to be at least 70*C for any relearn to take place.

Very specific instructions are given in the FSM for it to happen. Gettin the foot pedal timing right to trigger the relearn means you need to be able to read a stop watch. Cant help with that.
