Default High Oil preassure on cold start

I own a 350z 2003 (Imported from the US, if that matter).

However, when I start the car the oil preassure stays at 100 PSI and stays there untill the car gets warm enough then it falls to 30 PSI and with full throttle it goes to 110 PSI ish.

I've attatched a external oil preassure sensor and it shows that it is high on cold start so it is not a faulty gauge (sp?).

Anyone here got any ideas what the hell is wrong with my Z?

Mine does the same. Sometimes close to 120. Im sure its normal. The guage does more harm than good. As in your case thinking something is wrong.

Thanks for that info. However, I will probobly keep being paranoid about that damn oil preassure though.

Yeah. It starts at 100+ PSI. Is there any risk of having the car reach 120 PSI? Or shall I just drive it softly untill it heats up?

Pressure is a measure of restriction. Cold oil is thicker and thus harder to pump ergo pressure is higher. Completely normal. I'd be worried if it doesn't go high when it's cold more than I would be the other way around.

Mine does the same (08 Z), when it's cold the oil pressure is high and drops as it warms up. I just let it warm up 30 seconds to a minute and am easy on the throttle until it's completely warm. It's as simple as that.

Sweet. Good intel. I'll just make sure nothing changes from it's current form then and ask my workshop to take a look next time it's in.
